Overland Park, KS: Flat-Top Aluminum Fence with Arched Double Drive Gate

What the homeowner was up against
- The homeowner wanted the yard enclosed for kids and a trampoline without walling off the view of mature trees behind the property.
- A corner lot with sidewalk frontage means the street-facing run is the most visible fence on the block — panel alignment and post plumb are unforgiving there.
- The neighbor's wood privacy fence already ran along one side, so the new aluminum had to terminate into it cleanly rather than double-fencing the line.
What we specified, and why
Flat-top aluminum instead of spear-top
Flat-top reads more architectural and modern against a contemporary elevation, and it avoids the finials that catch clothing and lawn debris. Same rail structure and same powder-coat durability, cleaner top line.
Arched double drive gate on upsized posts
A double drive gate is the highest-stress assembly on any aluminum fence. Both leaves hang on upsized gate posts set deeper and in a larger concrete footing than line posts, which is what keeps a wide arch gate from sagging out of latch alignment after the first year.
Grade raked, not stepped
Ornamental aluminum panels can be racked to follow rolling grade. On the sidewalk-facing run we racked the panels so the fence follows the ground line continuously, with no triangular gaps under the bottom rail — the giveaway of a rigid-panel install on a sloped lot.
Honest transition into the existing wood fence
Rather than building a second parallel fence, the aluminum terminates against the neighbor's wood run at the corner. That saves the homeowner the cost of a redundant side and keeps the property line uncomplicated.

- Fully enclosed backyard with unobstructed sightlines to the treeline.
- Street-facing run that holds a straight top line across the corner lot.
- Powder-coated aluminum that needs no staining, sealing, or rust treatment — and won't rot at grade like wood posts do.
