Why Kodiak
Built by people who live here.
Owner-led build crews
Jake Champion personally walks every quote. Our build crews are W-2 employees, not day labor — same hands from layout to walkthrough.

Built to the KC frost line
Posts set 36+ inches in concrete, below the Kansas City frost line. No heaving, no leaning after the first hard winter.
10-year workmanship warranty
Every fence we build is backed by a written 10-year workmanship warranty on top of the manufacturer material warranty.
What we build
Fence types built across the KC metro.
Cedar privacy (6 ft)
Western red or northern white cedar. Dog-eared, board-on-board, or shadowbox. KC's most-built fence.
Heavy-wall vinyl
Steel-reinforced bottom rail, UV-stabilized PVC. Lifetime material warranty — not the big-box stuff.
Ornamental aluminum
Powder-coated black or bronze. Pool-code compatible. The Leawood and OP front-yard standard.
Chain link
Galvanized or black vinyl-coated. Residential, commercial, dog runs, ball fields.
Farm & ranch
High-tensile, woven wire, field fence, barbed wire. Built for acreage outside the metro.
Gates & operators
Walk gates, double drive gates, automatic operators (UL 325 compliant).

- Kodiak does — it's included free in every quote. Most KC metro cities (Overland Park, Olathe, Lee's Summit, Liberty, Lenexa, Prairie Village, Leawood, and more) require a fence permit for new installation. We pull the permit and submit the site plan on your behalf so you don't deal with city hall.Copy link to this answer

- Most KC backyard fences (140–220 linear feet) take 2–3 days on site once permits and materials are in hand. From signed quote to dig date is typically 2–4 weeks, depending on permit turnaround and HOA review.Copy link to this answer
- Yes — we build across the full KC metro on both sides of the state line, plus surrounding cities within ~50 miles of Baldwin City, KS: Lawrence, Topeka, Ottawa, Paola, Warrensburg, and most points in between. Farm and ranch fencing routinely takes us further out.Copy link to this answer
- Check for these five things: (1) verified 5-star reviews mentioning specific KC neighborhoods, (2) written 10-year+ workmanship warranty, (3) licensed in both KS and MO, (4) the builder pulls permits and handles HOA submittals for you, and (5) the quote is itemized — concrete per post, post material, gate hardware, permit fee, all line-itemed. Skip anyone who won't put it in writing.Copy link to this answer

- Functionally they're the same — both terms describe a licensed pro who installs fences. 'Builder' tends to emphasize the hands-on construction; 'contractor' emphasizes the licensing and project management. Kodiak does both — owner-led W-2 crews on every job, fully licensed and insured in KS + MO.Copy link to this answer
- Kodiak does — 12 to 84 month financing on every install, most decisions instant. Average KC backyard install runs $8,500–$15,000; financing brings monthly payments to roughly $160–$320. Application sent at quote time, no prepayment penalty.Copy link to this answer
- Most established KC fence builders schedule on-site quotes 2–7 days out during busy season. Kodiak offers 15-minute phone response during business hours and same-day or next-day on-site quotes on most spring/fall installs. Written itemized quote within 24 hours of the visit.Copy link to this answer
- Yes — chain link, ornamental steel, security fencing, and automatic gates for warehouses, multifamily properties, contractor yards, schools, and municipal sites across the KC metro. Bondable, AIA-format proposals, COI on request. See our commercial fence page for details.Copy link to this answer
- Yes — tear-out and haul of the old fence is a standard line item, typically $4–$10/lf depending on what we're removing (chain link removes fast; rotted cedar with concrete bases takes longer). Quoted on the same itemized quote as the new build.Copy link to this answer
- Yes — owner-led W-2 build crews, not day labor or subcontractors. Jake Champion personally walks every quote and the same crew shows up on dig day. That continuity is why our workmanship warranty is 10 years instead of 1.Copy link to this answer
