Farm & Ranch Fence Installation in the KC Metro
Farm fence is a different animal than residential. Long runs, real grade changes, livestock pressure, and equipment access all change what you build. We've installed miles of woven wire and high-tensile across the KC region — including corner H-braces sized to hold tension for decades.

Who it's for
Built for the way you actually use your property.
Hobby farmers, equestrians, cattle and goat operations, and rural acreage owners looking for legitimate perimeter or cross-fencing.
Why this build
Why our farm fences hold up.
Real H-brace corners
Properly notched and pinned brace assemblies — not a single post and a strand of wire.
Right wire for the right animal
We help you choose woven wire spacing and gauge that actually contains your animals.
Equipment-accessible gates
12 to 16 ft tube gates installed plumb and level on heavy-set posts.

What's included
Every Kodiak install comes with this — standard.
Built for Kansas City
The Kansas City proof points behind every Kodiak fence.
Every farm fences build we deliver in the Kansas City metro is engineered around the four things that actually break fences here: clay soil that swells and shifts, a frost line that pushes shallow posts, 60–80 mph straight-line spring winds, and 30+ freeze-thaw cycles a year.
36+ in.
Post depth — below KC frost line
Every post hole is dug past the local frost depth and set in concrete sized to the post and fence height — the #1 reason posts lean in season two.
Expansive clay
Soil-rated bracing on every job
Wyandotte, Jackson, and Johnson County soils swell and contract. We over-spec corner and gate post diameter and footing volume so they stay plumb.
60–80 mph
Wind-rated framing & fasteners
Spring straight-line winds tear weak fence apart. Our pickets are hot-dip or stainless fastened, with welded steel gate frames and double H-braces on long runs.
10-yr
Written workmanship warranty
Backed in writing on every install across metro KC. If a post leans, a gate sags, or a panel pops — we come back and fix it.

250+ verified KC reviews

Building only in metro Kansas City
We don't chase work outside the metro. Our crews know KCMO and KCK code, every Johnson County HOA quirk, and the soil on both sides of the state line.
Install spec sheet
What goes into every farm fences install we do in metro Kansas City.
We publish our spec because most KC fence quotes don't — and "cheaper" almost always means shallower posts, lighter posts, electroplated fasteners, or screwed-together gates. This is the standard you should compare every Kansas City quote against.
Post depth & footings
Holes augered to 36–42 in. — past the KC frost line — and a minimum of 8 in. diameter. Each post is set in fresh 4,000 PSI concrete sized to the post and fence height, never dry-set or pea-gravel backfill.
Framing & connections
Pressure-treated 4x4 or 6x6 wood posts on residential builds, schedule-40 galvanized steel posts on commercial and most ornamental. Rails are double-screwed into routed pockets or bracketed with hot-dip galvanized hardware. Gate frames are 100% welded steel — never screwed-together angle iron.
Fasteners & hardware
Hot-dip galvanized or stainless ring-shank pickets fasteners (we won't ship a job with electroplated screws — they rust through KC humidity in 2–4 years). Commercial adjustable hinges, self-closing hardware on pool gates, and ICC-compliant 54 in. latch height where code requires.
Materials we'll actually quote
Western Red Cedar (premium pickets only — culls rejected at delivery), heavy-wall vinyl with internal aluminum stiffeners on gates and end posts, marine-grade powder-coated aluminum, and schedule-40 chain-link framework. No big-box panels, no contractor-grade vinyl.
Code & permitting
We pull every KCMO, KCK, Overland Park, Olathe, Leawood, Lee's Summit, Blue Springs, and surrounding-suburb permit on your behalf. Each build is set back from the property line per the local code book (typically 0–3 ft) and engineered to meet local wind, height, and visibility requirements.
Walk-through & warranty
Before we invoice, we walk every linear foot with you. Gates swing square, posts read plumb on a 4-ft level, and the line is clean. Your 10-year workmanship warranty is then registered in writing and emailed.
FAQ
Farm Fences questions, answered.
- Yes. For horses we recommend 3- or 4-board oak fencing, vinyl rail with a hot-wire offset, or no-climb woven wire with a top rail. We don't recommend barbed wire for horses.Copy link to this answer

The questions every Kansas City homeowner asks before they sign a fence contract — answered the way we'd answer them in your driveway.
- Yes. Kodiak Fence Co. is BBB Accredited with an A+ rating and an Angi-verified Kansas City fence contractor with hundreds of 5-star reviews from real KC-metro homeowners. We carry general liability and workers' comp on every crew, with COIs available on request before any work begins.Copy link to this answer
- Minimum 36 inches — past the local frost line — in fresh 4,000 PSI concrete sized to the post and fence height. KC's expansive clay punishes shallow or undersized footings, which is the #1 reason fences lean within 1–2 seasons. End, corner, and gate posts get larger-diameter footings and, on long runs, double H-braces.Copy link to this answer
- Free on-site quotes are typically scheduled within 2–4 business days. From signed quote to install day usually runs 2–4 weeks, depending on the city's permit turnaround (KCMO and Lee's Summit run 5–10 business days; Overland Park, Olathe, and Leawood often issue same-week). Storm-damage repairs are prioritized and frequently completed in under a week.Copy link to this answer
- Yes — at no charge. We regularly prepare submittal-ready packages (material specs, color samples, picture-frame elevations, and site plans) for HOAs across Overland Park, Leawood, Olathe, Lee's Summit, Blue Springs, Liberty, Shawnee, and the KCMO Northland. If your HOA has a specific board template, send it and we fill it in.Copy link to this answer
- Yes. We partner with Hearth to offer 0% intro and long-term fixed-rate fencing financing for KC-metro homeowners. A 60-second pre-qual won't impact your credit, and approvals run from $1,000 to $100,000 — most fence projects fund the same day.Copy link to this answer
- Workmanship is covered for 10 years in writing. Storm or impact damage outside workmanship is repaired at our cost-plus rate — and because the same crew that installed it handles the repair, fixes are usually same-week with matched materials. We also provide photo documentation suitable for insurance claims at no charge.Copy link to this answer
